This Current Obsession started back in 2005 when Aaron gave Jon a call because he wanted to start something. Aaron also asked Bobby because he was playing for Jon at the time. Once the two were in, Bobby asked his little brother Ricky to play bass. They went through many drummers until Aaron decided to ask Rude. The band's name started as Decay In Ruins; but due to many misunderstandings they got together and decided to change their name to This Current Obsession. The members are Jon (vocalist), Bobby (rhythm guitar), Ricky (bass), Aaron (lead guitar) and Rudy (drums). This Current Obsession is a mix of anywhere from metal-core, grind core, thrash and maybe even hardcore. They are all influenced by As I Lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder and more. Even though they all attend school or work, they still attempt to write new material. As hard as it may be, the first chance they all get together they began to bring up ideas for new songs.
