LUNATIC PRODUCTIONS Interviews - HellsTown Rebels

LUNATIC: Ok, first thing first - why the name, HellsTown Rebels?

HTR: Javi: I used that name to refer to McAllen in a psychobilly song i made up yrs ago.
Surge: “yeah what he said…”

LUNATIC: How did you guys come to be a band, and what is available as far as music?

HTR: Javi: I met Kevin at a show and then met Surge through Kevin. We jammed along to a drum machine in my room alot and came up with a few songs and kinda decided that it would be badass to have a band...haha...then we ended up having scheduling differences with kevin and decided to get Juan to play bass and Cloud on drums....but you should hear the early tapes we recorded!...SILLY FUCKIN BUSINESS!
Surge: Plenty of fucking fresh prince intros, for love or money, and all the good nbc bullshit,, but right now we have a demo, which is pretty much just the songs on myspace, so download them don’t make us burn you a CD, BUT PLEASE DO KEEP IN TOUCH FOR A NEW CD COMING SOON!

LUNATIC: Congrats on taking first at the PUNK vs. METAL II show. Most bands stay away from this type of battle of the band thing. Whats your guys take on it?

HTR: Javi: I sometimes think that alot of bands take themselves way too seriously...i think we had a killer set because we like to have fun while we play...alot of bands tend to have this huuuuge frown on their face when they play, like if theyre fuckin posing for pictures and shit...haha...just have fun man...thats the best way to do it......and its also good to have shitloads of friends and fans there to vote for you...haha.
Surge : I think they stay away because they are scared to leave home. Maybe it was a breast feeding issue. And thank you ,the show was fucking nuts!

LUNATIC: You guys have more of a bar drinking rock n roll punk sound than anything else. What do you guys contribute that too?

HTR: Javi: hahaha...well...i think the beer helps alot...and our love for drunken sing-alongs helps alot too....and who doesnt love a good-ass ROCK n ROLL riff?!?!?...FUCK YEAH!
Surge: Yes beer helps, and so does cheap beer, and good friends, I would say what contributes to it is just life, most of our songs are stories, and we sing and play what we know, we aren’t going to try to front as something else, or whats new and in right now

LUNATIC: We always talk about the local scene in our interviews. Whats the bands take, on the local punk scene as well as the whole local music scene? What can change and what do you all think are our scenes strong points?

HTR: Surge: "scene" is bunch of babies wearing bell bottoms, and "vintage shirts" like garcias plumbing or some shit witha number 8 on the back,,,so fuck that, that can change A.S.A.P, as far as the punk rock movement,it is getting tied into the hardcore movement here, which there is nothing wrong with,we love it, and vise versa.
As far as strong points, the shows we play are thrown by normal people who aren't rich and dont have cash to blow off, they do this for themselves, and for others to have fun. So it would be dedication, and alot of heart, real music for real people
Javi: Perfectly worded.

LUNATIC: Whats the bands plans for the near future?

HTR: Surge: well we definitely are gona do a new recording, with the recent line up,and new songs, its only right, we are looking into new merch also , that and taking the innocence of all girl college rockers, and plenty of beer.
Javi: Not to mention goin on the road and playin plenty of outta town shows and tons of promo! We wanna make a good go at this!...i wouldnt want the band to fall apart some day and me being left thinking, "fuck...we wasted so much time!". I wanna say, "Well at least we had a great run and fucken kicked ass!".
