A SINGLE BREATH

A SINGLE BREATH; by Amanda

A Single Breath started out when Steve and Jeremy would jam outside Steve’s trailer during the summer of ’05. Friends from the trailer park would come over, hang out and jam. It went on pretty well until the neighbors started complaining so they had to move it inside. When school started a good friend of Jeremy’s named Ulysses introduced himself to Steve, he later came to Jeremy and Steve and introduced them to Jesse and Danny. It was outside the VFW when they all became committed to being in this all the way, so they got together for a jam session at a friends house. They had their first show in October for a Halloween party with only 2songs. ASB played house parties until Jan. ’06, when they got their first real live show at the VFW with Garage Productions. A Single Breath came from their old singer, Ulysses, he came up the band with the name, and they all dug it and stuck with it. ASB members consist of Robert (crazy eyes) - vocals, Steve (skinny kid)-drums, Jeremy (crazy hair)-guitar, Paul (sex symbol of the 21st century)-bass, and Jesse (now bald)-guitar. They have a lot of influences, ranging from The Red Chord to Miles Davis. In total they have up to 20 songs which is pretty good for a band that has just been together for a year now; but in a set they play the average 5-6 songs.  In their future they see it as 5 people being good friends (practically brothers) and just going to see where it takes them from there, if fame follows; it wasn’t the plan but they will experience it to the fullest. There is not one thing to name that inspires this band, everything influences them; they aren’t selfish just fun loving guys. Their thoughts on the valley scene? “It seems to be too divided. It sometimes seems like every metal band is playing the same kind of show or every emo band is playing the same kind of show. I know that metal, punk, hardcore and alternative bands have their own crowds and might not like each others music; but everyone needs to suck it up and bring everyone together and just hug. Ha-ha. This is why we love playing shows where our type of music is going to stand out, we add a little variety into the mix and maybe get some new friends that like what we do,” states Jeremy. Everyone has a band that they would like to play with…some don’t even think about things like that; but for these guys playing along side for The Dillinger Escape Plan and Hatebreed, would be pretty fucking awesome for them. They would like to mention This Current Obsession, Walk The Graves, all the bands in valley hardcore, Until I Wake, Five Foot Five to name a few, all the bands they have played with are worth an ear for anyone to listen to. Jan. 5th, 2007 was their CD release show at the VFW it was their best show ever, the atmosphere was great, all friends attended and so much more attended. In over a year of being a band made its name that night for all to know and hear. Attend their shows and purchase their merch. Check them out if you like, buy their stuff…I love these guys…and ladies…Jeremy is single!!!! Wooo.

‘Don’t live within the lines of genres; don’t categorize things to make things simpler…. If your gonna slap it, better wrap it.
