Valdris got started in 2002 by founding member, vocalist/guitarist, Cris V. Valdris' genre of music is Medieval/folklore ambient thrash metal. Cris has been writing songs that are inspired by the medieval era for a long time now. As Cris continued to write and complete the music , he began to search of band members interested in playing the same style. Vicente joined the band at the end of 2002 or so and learned quite a few songs. Shortly later, the band found keyboardist, Shaun and in about mid 2003, bassist, James came along; and finally in the end of 2005, came Roy, the second guitarist joined the band. This completed the lineup with members being: Cris (guitar & vocalist), Shaun (keys), James (bass), Sterling (drums), and Lupe (guitarist). Valdris took its name from Kit Rae Fantasy swords, which Cris bought in 2001, and used the name with their permission. Valdris are influenced by Mithotyn, Immortal, Cruachan, Satyricon, Rhapsody and many others. “Mythological of Norse, Celtic, Greek era as well movies based on similar subjects. "A majority of the music is actually written by me" advised Cris;" Although when we practice as the band, I’m always open for new ideas, if someone in the band comes up with a change. The reason being, is that I usually have the heart and concept of what Valdris' music should be, as it was before and now,” added Cris. Cris actually took some time off the band, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he created a new batch of songs. We the new songs, he will be creating a whole new concept. Looking into the future Valdris is anticipating to record with their new drummer (Sterling) and sending it off to some record labels nationwide. Regardless of what happens, Cris states that he will always continue to write music. "Valdris will never die. I’m surprised of what the metal scene has become of today. It’s getting stronger, and more bands are forming everyday. I’m looking forward to future shows with newer bands and some older ones too,” says Cris.
